Dear Friends and Partners,

We are pleased to announce three major events!

Today, 11th February 2020, we signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Digital Humanities of  the Université des Mascareignes (UDM). AfriEDX will collaborate closely with the Centre for Digital Humanities of  the Université des Mascareignes, namely Dr (Mrs) Neelam Pirbhai-Jetha, head of the centre.

The collaboration between AfriEDX and Centre for Digital Humanities will lead to a lot of actions for more inclusiveness in education by leveraging digital technologies. Through the AfriEDX Research & Development Centre (ARDC) that will also be based at the Centre for Digital Humanities, students will be able to participate in the production of immersive educational contents for schools and prepare themselves for the jobs of the future. Workshops will be organized for teachers, youth, women and the  public to learn how to benefit from our research work.

Secondly, we are announcing the official launching of the beta testing of AfriEDX immersive eLearning platform HomeSchool SI (www.homeschoolsi.com) through which students will be able to pursue their learning journey via both traditional and immersive learning methods almost anywhere, even in places where there are internet connectivity and transport issues. The objective is to bring quality education in places where there is no internet connection or where connectivity is out of potential users’ reach due to costs. The eLearning platform is available in two versions: HSsi Live and HSsi Inclusive. If you are interested in joining the beta programme, please click here.

Finally, we are celebrating the 3rd anniversary of AfriEDX which François Mark founded with a grant from the US Embassy, Port-Louis, Mauritius in 2017.

We thank both Dr R. Somanah, Director-General and Dr (Mrs) Neelam Pirbhai-Jetha, Head of Digital Humanities of l’Université des Mascareignes (UDM) for inviting us to be part of the Centre for Digital Humanities.

Together, let’s make education more accessible and inclusive for the maximum of learners!
